America Ferrera
America Georgine Ferrera is an American actress who made her debut as a star with her title character in the cult television show 'Ugly Betty'. Since her time as a schoolgirl, Ferrera has been interested in acting. She performed on stage for various school productions and her first feature film "Real Women Have Curves" was her breakthrough film. Though her role on the television show "Ugly Betty" was more well-known when she played the lead character on the series earned her critics appreciation. This included being awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best actress as well as the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Primetime Emmy Award. Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis has been lauded for her role as an "role-model" for young Hispanic women in the entertainment world. Ferrera was a participant on Time magazine's list of 100 influential individuals across the globe in 2007, was named one of them. Ferrera is a fervent supporter for the 'Save The Children Campaign' and a devoted ambassador. In the course of her social work, she traveled to India to meet the kids of sex workers, and spread awareness of sex trafficking.
